B-RICH BANQUE ist Jean-Christophe Massinons Beitrag zur Reihe "Be the artists' guest", die das Luxemburger Musée d'Art Moderne Gran-Duc Jean in der Zeit bis zur Eröffnung des neuen Museumsgebäudes durchführt. Für dieses Projekt erfand Massinon eine Bank, die allerdings kein Geld verwaltet und dieses vermehrt, sondern die sich den eher ideellen Reichtümern widmet. Indem die Besucher des Projektes ein Konto bei der B-RICH BANQUE eröffnen, können sie Ihre gesamten verbalen und nichtkommerziellen Schätze hinterlegen und in sichere Verwahrung geben. Die B-RICH BANQUE sammelt die Gefühle, Geschichten und Erinnerungen, die unsere persönliche Kultur ausmachen - die private, aber auch die allgemeine und globale.
Eine mobile Filiale der B-RICH BANQUE macht nun vom 03. April bis zum 10. Mai am Engeldamm 62/64 in Berlin Station. Für einige Tage wird in den Galerieräumen von con|temporary ein Tresor entstehen, in dem die Geschichten der Menschen in verschiedensten Medien gesammelt und aufbewahrt werden, ein Raum der das Private bewahrt und es zugleich öffentlich macht; danach informiert ein mobiles Informationszentrum über die BANQUE.
Daneben werden neue Gemälde von Jean-Christophe Massinon zu sehen sein - Landschaften und Gruppenbilder, die in der Darstellungen auf ganz wenige Farbflächen und Linien konzentriert sind. Wie in Piktogrammen gibt Massinon nötigste Hinweise auf das Dargestellte, präsentiert damit einen Gedankenraum, der durch die Besucher dann selbst ausgefüllt werden muss:
"Ich versuche, eine einfache, bildhafte Sprache zu entwickeln. Die Bilder enthalten sehr wenige Informationen. Ich begrenze die Anzahl der Farben auf ein Minimum und das Ausschnitthafte der Bilder bewirkt so eine fast abstrakte Auflösung. Die Bilder als bildhafte Anhaltspunkte werden so selbst zu Auslösern einer Erinnerung. Basierend auf Gesehenem, erlauben sie den Betrachtern eigene, persönliche Erfahrungswelten zusammen zu fügen.
B-RICH BANQUE is Jean-Christophe Massinon's contribution to the programme "Be the artists' guest", that is organised by the Musée d'Art Moderne Gran-Duc Jean in Luxembourg in the time up to the opening of its new building.
For this project Massinon devised a bank, but one that does not administer money or attempts to increase worldly riches. B-RICH BANQUE is concerned with riches of a different kind. By opening a B-RICH account visitors can deposit their verbal and non-commercial treasures for safe-keeping. Family, village and city stories, stories about work, people and children, about wisdom and tradition - the B-RICH BANQUE collects emotions and memories, which form our personal environment - it mirrors private, public and global culture.
A travelling branch of B-RICH BANQUE will stop over at the Engeldamm in Berlin from 3rd April to 10th May. A walk-in safe will be built in the gallery for the first couple of days, in which the stories and histories of the visitors are going to be collected in the different media - a space that preserves private ideas and makes them public at the same time; afterwards there will be a mobile information hub.
Besides this installation, this exhibition will present new paintings by Jean-Christophe Massinon - landscapes and paintings of people, which are concentrated to very few lines and colour fields. As in pictographs, Massinon provides only the most necessary information, he opens up a space for ideas that has to be filled by the viewers' imagination:
"I am working on the elaboration of a simple, pictorial language. The paintings contain very little information. I limit the choice of colors to the minimum and the close-up presentation of the images offer a quasi- abstract interpretation of the pictures. Like clues, the images themselves are the release mechanism. They allow the spectator to reconstitute a personal universe based on what (s)he sees."
